Where to stay in Moldova

Hotels

Moldova offers a modest but varied range of accommodation options, with the widest choice available in Chişinău. Visitors will find international-standard hotels, boutique properties, serviced apartments and budget guesthouses, many of which offer good value for money by European standards. Outside the capital, accommodation tends to be simpler, with small hotels, family-run guesthouses and rural homestays providing a more local experience.

Facilities and service levels vary, particularly outside major towns, but hospitality is generally warm and personal. Many smaller properties may not accept card payments, so carrying cash is advisable. Advance booking is recommended during busy periods or when travelling to wine regions, where accommodation options can be limited.

Camping

Camping in Moldova is limited. There are very few designated campsites with facilities such as toilets, electricity or running water. As a result, camping is not a common choice for visitors and requires careful planning.

Wild camping is not officially regulated and may be tolerated in some rural areas, but permission should always be sought from landowners or local authorities. Travellers considering camping should be self-sufficient, respect private property and be mindful of local customs.
