Passports

All visitors to Zimbabwe must hold a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the intended date of departure and has at least two blank pages. Passports are checked on arrival, and visitors should ensure their documents are in good condition, as damaged passports may be refused.

Visas

Zimbabwe classifies visitors by nationality into three visa categories, as defined by the Zimbabwe Department of Immigration.

Category A – visa-exempt
Nationals of Category A countries do not require a visa to enter Zimbabwe for tourism purposes and are granted entry on arrival. This category mainly includes citizens of several African countries, as well as selected Commonwealth, Caribbean and Pacific nations. Length of stay varies by nationality and is determined by immigration officials on arrival.

Category B – visa required, available on arrival or as an eVisa
Nationals of Category B countries require a visa but may obtain one on arrival at international airports and major land border crossings, or apply for an eVisa in advance. This category includes travellers from the United Kingdom, EU countries, the United States, Canada, Australia and many other countries in Europe, the Americas and Asia. Visas are usually issued for tourism and business purposes.

Category C – visa required in advance
Nationals of Category C countries must obtain a visa before travelling to Zimbabwe. Visitors in this category are required to apply through a Zimbabwean embassy or consulate prior to departure and are not eligible for a visa on arrival.

The KAZA Univisa
The KAZA Univisa is a special multiple-entry visa that allows travellers to visit both Zimbabwe and Zambia on a single visa. It is particularly useful for visitors planning to see Victoria Falls from both sides of the border or to make short cross-border trips between the two countries.

Types and cost

Visa fees vary by nationality and visa type and are payable in US dollars. Fees are typically charged on arrival or during the eVisa application process. Travellers are advised to carry the correct payment method, as card facilities may not always be available at border posts.

Validity

Tourist visas are usually issued for stays of up to 30 days, though longer stays of up to 90 days may be granted at the discretion of immigration officials, depending on nationality and purpose of visit.

For the KAZA Univisa, it is typically valid for up to 30 days and is payable in US dollars. Availability can be limited at times, so travellers are advised to check in advance whether the KAZA Univisa is being issued at their intended entry point.

Transit

Transit visas may be required for travellers passing through Zimbabwe en route to another destination, depending on nationality and length of transit. In many cases, passengers who remain airside and continue their journey on the same day do not require a transit visa.

Application to
Working days

Visitors applying for a visa on arrival receive their visa immediately upon entry, subject to meeting entry requirements. For those applying in advance, eVisas are typically processed within a few working days, though processing times can vary depending on demand and individual circumstances.
