Verona Villafranca Airport Guide (VRN)
The airport is located about 9 km (6 miles) southwest of central Verona.
Verona Villafranca Airport – also known as Valerio Catullo Airport – serves the central region of northern Italy. Our guide to the airport includes information relating to terminal services, public transportation and nearby accommodation options.
The airport information desk is located in the public area of the Departures hall, and there is also a tourist information office in Arrivals.
The terminal complex is in two adjacent parts, one for Arrivals and the other for Departures.
The airport is clearly signposted from central Verona. From the city centre take SS12 west, and merge onto the southbound SR62. Stay on the SR62 until you reach a right-hand turn off signposted for the airport. Follow this road to the terminal complex.
Public Transport
Bus:Regular Aerobus services (tel: +39 045 805 7922; www.atv.verona.it) operate between the airport and Verona's main railway station (journey time: 15 minutes; fare: €6). From there, trains connect to areas throughout the city and further afield.
Taxi:Cabs are available outside Arrivals. The fare into central Verona starts at around €20, and the trip takes 15 minutes. Taxis can be booked in advance. Terminal facilities
Free unlimited Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Verona Villafranca Airport. Public telephones are also available, and are located in various areas of the terminal.
There are several restaurants (including pizzerias and a Japanese restaurant), bars and snack outlets in both Arrivals and Departures.
There is a wide choice of shopping available to passengers, with items ranging from books and fashion to gifts, local delicacies and wines. Duty-free is available in Departures for non-EU passengers.
There are currently no left-luggage facilities at the airport. The Lost and Found office (tel: +39 045 809 5867) is located in Arrivals.
Airport facilities
There are no meeting facilities at the airport, but a range of conference and meeting rooms are available at larger hotels in the nearby surrounds and city centre. The AirportHotel Verona (tel: +39 045 861 3399; www.airporthotelverona.it) is one of those that provides such services.
The airport is fully accessible, with lifts and disabled toilet facilities. Designated disabled parking is available immediately opposite the terminal entrance in the lift-equipped multi-storey car park. Passengers are advised to contact their airline in advance of travel should they require additional assistance.
Verona airport has a number of car parks, both open air and multi-storey, offering short- and long-term parking. The cheapest lot is about 10 minutes' walk from the terminal. Additional parking information is available from the airport (tel: +39 045 809 5656).
International car hire companies: Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Maggiore and Sixt are represented at the airport, along with a handful of local outfits. The car hire offices are located a short distance outside Arrivals in car park 3.
One of the closer accommodation options to the airport, the AirportHotel Verona is a modern 4-star hotel offering a spa centre with pool, restaurant, conference and events space and a choice of rooms and suites. It also has a roof terrace.
A 4-star rated property, this hotel is very close to the airport, and occupies a historic former monastery. It offers a fitness centre, spa, and a highly-rated restaurant. Conference facilities are also available.
Located within 2km (1.2 miles) of the airport, the Hotel West Point is another top of the range offering. A paid-for airport shuttle is available, along with fitness centre and pool, restaurant and meeting facilities.
Offering a free shuttle service, the Hotel Saccardi is a well-priced accommodation option situated on the main road that passes the airport. It features a large restaurant, indoor and outdoor pools with sauna, and a conference centre.
A little further from the airport on the edge of the city centre, this is a standard Ibis hotel, close to the city's exhibition and congress complex. It has 145 rooms, a restaurant and bar, and all the usual Ibis services.
Another reasonably priced option close to the airport, the Hotel Opera is a relatively new establishment in a restored early 19th-century building. It houses a small spa facility and restaurant with outdoor terrace serving light meals.
