Passports

A passport valid for at least six months after departure from St Maarten is required by all nationals.

Visitors must also have an onward or return ticket, proof of sufficient funds, and proof of lodging accommodations.

Visas

Dutch and Americans can stay up to 180 days within a year without a visa.

Other nationals referred to in the chart above can stay up to 90 days within 180 days.

Types and cost

Short-stay Caribbean visa: €80.

The Caribbean visa is a multiple-entry visa. It allows travellers to make short visits (minimum 15 and maximum 90 days in a 180-day period) to the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St Eustatius and St Maarten).

The Schengen visa is not valid for travel to St Maarten.

Working days

Applications for the Caribbean visa are usually processed within 15 calendar days.

Extension of stay

Visitors who have the Caribbean visa will not be able to extend the visa.

Visitors who do not require a visa may extend their stay at the immigration office, usually up to a maximum of 180 days.

Entry with pets

If bringing a pet, your animal needs a health certificate issued no more than 10 days before your arrival. You must also bring a list of inoculations, including proof of a rabies vaccination given no more than 30 days before your trip.
