Rome Ciampino Airport Guide (CIA)
Rome Ciampino Airport is located 12km (7.5 miles) to the southeast of the centre of Rome.
The secondary international airport serving the Italian capital, Rome Ciampino Airport, also known as Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport, operates a number of international routes primarily run by low-cost carriers. There is an airport information desk in the departures area of the main terminal building. A Tourist Info Point (TIP) is in operation in the baggage claim area of the arrivals hall of the main passenger terminal. Airport Helpers are also on hand to answer any queries.
From central Rome, take the Via Appia Nuova (which becomes the Strada Statale 7 (SS7)) in a southeasterly direction towards Castelli Romani. The airport is accessible from this road via a dedicated exit. The total drive time from central Rome to the airport is approximately 30 minutes.
Coming from Rome Fiumicino Airport, travellers should take the Fiumicino/Rome motorway, turn onto the A90 Rome city ring road (GRA) and then the Via Appia, before finally merging onto Via Appia Nuova in the direction of Castelli Romani.
Public Transport
Rail: 'Leonardo Express' trains (tel: +39 199 892 021; www.trenitalia.com) take 12 to 15 minutes between the airport and Rome Termini station, and depart every 15 to 20 minutes. The fare to Rome Termini costs €5.
Shuttle bus services provided by Cortal and Schiaffini connect Rome Ciampino Airport and Ciampino Città station every 30 minutes, the transfer takes just five minutes and costs €1.
Bus:Terravision (tel: +39 06 9761 0632; www.terravision.eu) coaches run between Rome Ciampino Airport and Rome Termini train station in the city centre and correspond with flights from nine airlines (journey time: 55 minutes; fare: €4).
There are also buses running every 40 minutes during the day between the airport and Anagnina Metro Station. From here, metro trains run into central Rome every five to 10 minutes.
To get to Rome Fiumicino Airport, a non-stop service is available departing from outside of the terminal, taking 45 minutes. There are, however, a limited number of these connections each day.
Taxi:Taxis are available opposite the arrivals area. It is recommended to use authorised taxis (vehicles with taximeter). A taxi will take 35 to 50 minutes into central Rome, and will cost €30-40, depending on traffic.
Terminal facilities
There are two banks in the departures area. ATMs are located in the arrivals area and in the General Aviation Terminal. There are two bureaux de change, one in the arrivals area and one in departures.
Paid-for Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Rome Ciampino Airport, and stationary internet kiosks are situated at various points. A post office is available on the first floor of the departures area.
There are several restaurants, cafés, fast food outlets and bars serving a range of Italian and international snacks, meals and drinks in the terminal.
There are plenty of shops at Rome Ciampino Airport. Products for sale include fashion accessories, perfumes, traditional food items and clothing.

Airport facilities
A multifunctional room for business meetings and conferences is situated in the General Aviation Terminal. Meeting facilities are also available in larger hotels, including the local Hotel Petra (tel: +39 06 723 2444; www.hotelpetraroma.it).
Arrangements for disabled travellers at Rome Ciampino Airport include designated parking spaces, accessible toilets and wheelchair accessible lifts. Assistance for passengers with disabilities is available from ADR Assistance (www.adrassistance.it). Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline in advance of travel.

Several car hire operators are represented at Rome Ciampino Airport, including: Auto Europe, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Goldcar, Hertz, Maggiore, Sixt and Locauto. Offices for these operators are located near car park P8.
Boasting an on-site restaurant, swimming pool, extensive conference facilities and tennis courts, Petra Hotel & Residence is in nearby Anagnina. The hotel runs a free shuttle service (available on request) to the nearest metro station.
A little further from Rome Ciampino Airport, the 3-star Hotel Arcadia features a gym, sun terrace and snack bar. A free shuttle service is available to the Anagnina Metro Station for connections into the city centre.
Hotel Giardino D'Europa is located near Anagnina Metro Station, less than 4km (2.5 miles) from Rome Ciampino Airport. The hotel operates paid-for shuttle bus transfers to/from the airport from Monday to Saturday; it also has an on-site restaurant and a 50-seater meeting room.
Hotel Villa Giulia is located in the centre of Ciampino, just 3km (2 miles) from the airport. Rooms are air-conditioned, and the hotel is a short distance from the local railway station, providing good transport links.
