Zambia issues single-entry, double-entry and multiple-entry visas for tourism and business purposes, with fees payable in US dollars; costs vary depending on nationality and visa type and are typically paid on arrival or during the eVisa application process.
Tourist visas for Zambia are usually granted for stays of up to 30 or 90 days within a 12-month period, depending on nationality and immigration approval. The exact length of stay is determined by immigration officers on arrival and is indicated in the passport entry stamp.
Transit visas may be required for some nationalities passing through Zambia en route to another destination. Travellers who remain airside and continue their journey within a short period generally do not require a transit visa, while others may need to obtain one in advance or on arrival depending on nationality and length of stay. Visitors are advised to check requirements with an official Zambian government source before travelling.

Visa processing times for Zambia depend on the type of visa and method of application. Visas obtained on arrival are issued immediately at the port of entry, provided entry requirements are met. For those applying in advance, online eVisas are typically processed within a few working days, although processing times can be longer during peak travel periods or if additional documentation is required. Travellers are advised to apply well in advance of travel and to check the official government portal for the most up-to-date processing timelines.
