Travel by rail

Memphis and Newbern-Dyersberg, on the Chicago-New Orleans line, are the only stations on the national Amtrak rail network (tel: 1 800 872 7245; www.amtrak.com). Nashville and Chattanooga have connecting Thruway bus services (operated by Greyhound) to Atlanta, which is on the New Orleans-Washington, DC-New York City route. Car hire is available at the Memphis station. The Tennessee Valley Railroad runs a 10km (6-mile) round trip from Chattanooga.
