Denver International Airport Guide (DEN)
One of the largest airports in the world both in terms of area and passenger numbers, Denver International is a key regional hub in the USA. Our guide to the airport includes contact details, plus information regarding terminal facilities, public transport routes and nearby accommodation options.
Information desks are located on level 5 in the Jeppesen Terminal and throughout gates A, B and C. Passengers can also text their questions to Customer Service (tel: +1 720 370 9002) or call (tel: +1 303 342 2000) between the hours of 6:30 am and 10:30 pm daily. Additionally, there is a ground transport information counter on level 5.
The automated airport underground rail system links the Jeppesen Terminal with concourses A, B and C. Passengers can also walk from the Jeppesen Terminal to concourse A via a bridge connection over the taxiways.
From the centre of Denver, take the I-70 E to Peña Boulevard. After merging onto I-25 N, use the right two lanes to take exit 214A and follow the signs for I-70 E/Limon. Keep left and take Exit 275B, then keep left to stay on 1-70 E. Lastly, keep right at the fork and continue onto Peña Boulevard and follow signs for Peña Boulevard and Denver International Airport.
Public Transport
A commuter rail, known as the A Line, connects the Denver International Airport to Denver Union Station. The station at the airport is underneath the Westin Denver Hotel. Tickets for the A Line can be purchased at the vending machines on the train platform with cash or card. It takes just under 40 minutes to get from the airport to the Denver Union Station. Trains run every 15 minutes throughout the day, but every 30 minutes in the evening and early morning hours.
Bus: RTD public bus services (tel: +1 303 299 6000; www.rtd-denver.com) depart from the ground level of the terminal at the DEN Transit Center, accessible from the south end of the Jeppesen Terminal. The buses serve numerous destinations in and around Denver. The journey time to central Denver is around one hour, and a day-pass can be purchased for $9.
Shuttle: Shared ride services are available from a number of providers. These can be found at Island 5 on Level 5, outside doors 505-507 and 510-512. Many hotels also offer complimentary shuttle bus services. Rates vary depending on the transportation provider.
Taxi: Taxis, charters and luxury limousines pick-up and drop-off from Level 5, Island 1 outside doors 505, 507, and 511 on the east side and 506, 510, and 512 on the west side. A flat rate fare of $55.57 applies to Denver city centre, with fares charged by the meter for other routes.
Terminal facilities
Denver International Airport has ATMs throughout the terminal and concourses. Currency exchange desks are located at the centre of the A and B gates and on Level 5. Public Service Credit Union, a full-service bank, is located on the west side of Level 6 of the Terminal and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the airport. A post office is located on Level 6 and package drop boxes can be found in concourses B and C on the mezzanine level.
There is an extensive range of fast food outlets, cafés, bars and restaurants at Denver International Airport. These include grill restaurants, coffee shops, and bars.
Shops at Denver International Airport encompass everything from newsagents and gift shops to retailers selling travel accessories, luggage and designer clothing. Tax and duty-free shops are located in concourses A and B for international passengers.
The airport's Lost & Found Office (tel: +1 303 342 4062) is situated on Level 5 near International Arrivals. There isn't a luggage storage facility.
Airport facilities
There are no business or conference services available at the airport. However, several hotels in the near vicinity, including the Crowne Plaza Denver Airport Convention Centre (tel: +1 303 371 9494; www.cpdenverairport.com), provide extensive business facilities, including designated meeting and conference rooms.
Car parking spaces for disabled visitors are available in all airport-owned parking facilities, with the exception of level 3 in the multistorey car parks. Shuttle buses with wheelchair lifts operate between the outlying car parks and the terminal. Other facilities include accessible toilets and TTY telephones for people with hearing impairments.
There are many parking options at Denver International Airport, including a short-term car park and other car parks with long-term parking options on both sides of the terminal.
Long-term parking options include Pikes Peak Lot, which is located a short distance from the terminal. Shuttles drop off and pick up passengers on the terminal's Level 5, Island 3, on both east and west sides. The remote Mt Elbert Shuttle Lot is used for overflow parking and is also serviced by a shuttle.
Valet parking is accessible from level 4 on the east and west sides of the terminal.
Car hire companies at Denver International Airport include Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, E-Z, Enterprise, Fox, Hertz, National, Payless and Thrifty. Desks for these companies are located on level 5 of the terminal building. Each of the operators provides a courtesy shuttle service to the pick-up car parks from Island 4 on level 5.
Modern architectural design, comfortable rooms, and a close proximity to the Denver International Airport make the Westin the perfect stay for those who require quick access to the airport terminal.
A good option for business visitors with extensive communication facilities and 18 meeting rooms, Crowne Plaza Airport Convention Center is a short distance from Denver International Airport. Complimentary shuttle services operate to/from the terminal every 30 minutes.
The Hilton Garden Inn Denver Airport is 20km (12 miles) from Denver International Airport and houses a restaurant, on-site catering, and fitness and pool facilities.
Boasting a fitness centre, restaurant and business rooms, the Courtyard by Marriott is just 9km (6 miles) from the airport and is served by a complimentary shuttle bus.
Hyatt Place Denver Airport is a 12-minute drive from Denver International Airport, but does not provide a shuttle service to the terminal. The hotel is located close to a range of retail and dining options.
A good option for those on a tight budget, La Quinta Inn & Suites is located a short distance from Denver International Airport and provides a 24-hour shuttle service to and from the terminal. The hotel also offers short-term and long-term parking options for guests.
