Where to stay in Slovakia

Hotels:

Slovakia has accommodation ranging from international hotels and boutique properties to guesthouses, apartments, hostels and rural pensions. Bratislava has the widest selection, including luxury and business hotels, while Košice and other larger towns offer a good range across most price categories.

In the High and Low Tatras, accommodation includes mountain hotels, chalets, apartments and traditional pensions, with ski resorts particularly busy during the winter season. Mountain huts provide simple accommodation for hikers on some routes. Spa towns such as Piešťany and Bardejovské Kúpele have hotels centred on thermal treatments and wellness facilities.

Rural guesthouses and farm stays are available in many parts of the country and can be a good option for exploring national parks, castles and smaller villages. Accommodation in popular mountain resorts can become limited during peak skiing periods and the main summer hiking season.

Camping:

Campsites are found throughout Slovakia, particularly near national parks, lakes, reservoirs and mountain areas. Facilities range from simple tent pitches to larger sites offering cabins, caravans and recreational facilities. Wild camping is restricted or prohibited in many protected areas, including national parks, so visitors should use designated campsites and follow local regulations.
