Passports

Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of arrival in Malaysia.

Sabah and Sarawak in East Malaysia have their own immigration policies. International travellers must present their passports when travelling from West Malaysia to East Malaysia. Additionally, travellers connecting to another destination within Sabah or Sarawak must clear immigration at the point of entry and ensure their passports are stamped with the appropriate entry mark. Failure to comply may result in fines or detention.

Visas

Visas are not required by nationals referred to in the chart above for stays in Malaysia of up to 90 days.

Malaysia offers visa exemptions to citizens of numerous countries, allowing them to visit for tourism or business purposes without obtaining a visa in advance. The duration of visa-free stays varies depending on the visitor's nationality. Please refer to the immigration website for the latest information.

Types and cost

Visa fees vary based on nationality. Applicants are advised to visit www.imi.gov.my.

Validity

Single-entry visas: Valid for three months from the date of issue.

Multiple-entry visas: Valid for three months to one year from the date of issue, with a maximum stay of 30 days per visit.

Transit

Foreign nationals who do not leave the airport and are continuing to another destination do not require a transit visa.
