Kota Kinabalu International Airport is approximately 9 km (6 miles) south of the city centre. Travellers departing from the city centre typically take Jalan K. K. Bypass, following the signs to the airport. The drive from Gaya Street, a popular tourist area, to the airport takes about 15 minutes under normal conditions but may be longer during peak traffic hours.
Public Transport
Bus: The BKI Airport Bus operates from 07:30 to 20:00 daily, with services every 45 minutes. The bus stop is on Level 1 (Arrivals).
Taxis: Taxis are available on Level 1. Give your destination address to the taxi counter, and the staff will issue you a coupon. Fares are fixed based on destination, such as RM 30 for a trip to the city centre. Taxi fares are about RM 10 more than e-hailing services, although the difference narrows during peak hours when e-hailing prices increase.
E-hailing or ride-hailing: Grab operates in Kota Kinabalu and offers pick-ups from Kota Kinabalu International Airport. The designated pick-up area is on Level 1 near Exit 5, which is farther from the taxi stand.

ATMs are on Level 1 (Arrivals).
Foreign exchange counters are on Level 1 (Arrivals), and Level 3 (International Departures).
