To enter Malawi, a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of intended departure is required by all nationals referred to in the chart above.
All nationals referred to in the chart above are required to have a return ticket except in special circumstances such as long-term study visits or working contracts.
Visas for Malawi are not required by the following nationals referred to in the chart above:
- Australians;
- British nationals;
- Canadians;
- US-Americans;
- (1) EU-nationals of Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland (Rep.), Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Sweden.
Nationals not referred to in the chart are advised to contact the embassy or high commission to check visa requirements for Malawi.
Nationals of countries who need a visa, can obtain it online; check for eligibility.
Visa on arrival: Transit visa: US$50; single-entry visa: US$75; six-month multiple-entry visa: US$150; one-year multiple-entry visa: US$250.
Visa from the embassy/high commission: Transit visa: £50; single-entry visa: £65; six-month multiple-entry visa: £145; one-year multiple entry visa: £200.
Transit visa: seven days; single-entry visa: 90 days; multiple-entry visas: six months or one year.
Consulate (or consular section at embassy or high commission) or on arrival at the airport (for certain countries only).
