Kathmandu Hotels
Kathmandu has abundant hotels in every price category and most survived the 2015 earthquake with only minor damage, through a few heritage properties sustained more serious harm.
The Kathmandu hotels below have been grouped into three pricing categories:
Luxury (over US$200)
Moderate (US$75 to US$200)
Cheap (up to US$75)
These Kathmandu hotel prices are the starting prices for a double room per night. They include taxes but not breakfast. Hotel rates vary according to the season, with the high season running from October to November and February to April. There is a government tax of 13% applied to all room rates, and many hotels also charge a 10% service charge.
Kathmandu’s grandest 5-star hotel benefits from a secluded location, away from the centre but right on the doorstep of the Bodhnath stupa. The 290 rooms are luxurious, service is impeccable, and the hotel bar and restaurants are favourite hangouts for Kathmandu’s power players. Other facilities include a business centre, pool and spa.
This famous 5-star hotel was founded by a Russian entrepreneur on the site of a former Rana's palace. The stylish rooms are set in two modern wings that were untouched by the 2015 earthquake, and damage to the Rana-era buildings was quickly repaired. As well as swish restaurants and bars and superior business and sports facilities, the hotel has lush gardens and its own casino.
Carved timbers and ornamental brickwork, rescued from vanished temples and palaces, add an air of authenticity at this unique and individual hotel near Pashupatinath. Set in this living museum are 74 deluxe rooms and suites, plus a pool, meeting room, several restaurants and a business centre.
