The Jacques-Mayer family set up the elegant Beau-Rivage hotel on the banks of Lake Geneva in 1865. Former guests have included Sarah Bernhardt, the Empress Elisabeth of Austria, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and Catherine Deneuve. Since 2009, the hotel has been a member of The Leading Hotels of the World consortium. Its fine dining restaurant, Le Chat-Botté, is especially renowned.
