Religious processions take place in towns around the country, with images of the Passion of Christ carried by worshippers wearing purple gowns. Some groups carry heavy crosses along routes of the Stations of the Cross to the Cavalry. The biggest event is for El Nazareno de San Pablo at the Santa Teresa Basilica in Caracas.
