Dayton International Airport Guide (DAY)
Dayton International Airport is situated approximately 18km (11 miles) north of Dayton.
Located in southwest Ohio, Dayton International Airport is the third largest air facility in the state. Our Dayton International Airport guide includes information on terminal facilities, public transport access and nearby accommodation options.
There is an airport information desk (tel: +1 937 454 8200) in the baggage claim area, which offers airport and tourist information, as well as passenger contact assistance.
Dayton International Airport is located a little to the west of Interstate 75 and north of US Route 40.
From central Dayton, head north along Interstate 75 and west onto Interstate 70, before taking exit 32 northwards. This road leads directly to the terminal entrance. The total drive time from Dayton to the airport is approximately 18 minutes.
Public Transport
Bus: RTA bus route 43 (tel: +1 937 425 8300; www.i-riderta.org) operates infrequently from outside the terminal to the centre of Dayton (journey time: 60 minutes; fare: US$1.70).
Taxi:A number of taxi companies serve Dayton International Airport, full details of which can be found on the airport website. The taxi booking booth (tel: +1 937 890 3217) is located immediately outside the terminal building. The journey time into Dayton is about 20 minutes (depending on traffic) and fares start at around US$40.
Shuttle: Charter Vans (tel: +1 937 898 4043; www.chartervans.com) offers shuttle services from Dayton International Airport. A booking desk for this service is situated in the baggage claim area. Rates start at US$33 per person (reduced if more than one passenger is travelling).
Terminal facilities
An ATM is located in the main concourse of the terminal building, while other cash dispensers are available after security. There is currently no currency exchange service at Dayton International Airport.
Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Dayton International Airport. Mobile phone recharging stations are installed. There is a postal service after security, and postage stamps can be purchased at the Fifth Third Bank ATM before the security area.
There are a number of cafés, restaurants and bars at Dayton International Airport, including an Italian restaurant, American-style diner, bar and grill and a sandwich shop. Vending machines are also available.
A book shop, a number of gift shops and a couple of newsagents selling newspapers, magazines and travel items are located post-security. There is currently no duty-free shopping at Dayton International Airport.
There is a lost and found service (tel: +1 937 454 6526) for items lost in Dayton International Airport within the Airport Police office on concourse B. A Skycap porter service is available for passengers on some airlines. Passengers should contact their airline for queries regarding items left on aircrafts. Trollies are available at a charge of US$3.
Airport facilities
The Business Travellers Centre (tel: +1 937 264 3560) provides meeting rooms, telephone access, free wireless internet services and fax and photocopying facilities. This service is available free of charge to Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce members. Meeting rooms are also available at some local hotels, including at the Super 8 Vandalia (tel: +1 937 898 7636; www.super8.com).
Skycaps can provide a wheelchair service on request. Other facilities include companion-assisted restrooms, TDD terminals (at the phone board near the information centre and in the police office) and lifts. Parking spaces for disabled visitors are available at a discounted rate in every car park.
Short- and long-term parking is located on levels 2 and 3 of the multistorey car park next to the terminal building. A further long-term car park offers slightly cheaper rates, and can be found a short distance from the terminal. The cheapest long-term option is the economy car park, which is linked to the terminal by a free shuttle service. Drivers waiting for arriving passengers can make use of a free ‘cell phone lot’. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz and National car hire companies are all represented at Dayton International Airport.
About 3km (2 miles) south of the airport on Interstate 75 towards Dayton, this hotel is aimed squarely at the business guest. It has a bistro-style restaurant, and fitness centre with indoor pool. No shuttle service is offered.
A short distance south of the airport (just off Interstate 75), the Ramada Plaza Hotel Dayton operates a free shuttle link to the terminal. Facilities here include a business centre, restaurant, meeting facilities and a pool.
Located immediately outside the airport grounds, this is a budget motel offering the additional option of off-site airport parking. A free shuttle service is available, as is an outdoor pool and free Wi-Fi interest access. A light breakfast is included in the room rate.
The nearest accommodation option to the airport, Super 8 Vandalia Dayton International Airport provides a shuttle bus service to/from the terminal building, as well as free high-speed internet access, meeting rooms and a swimming pool.
