Construction of a new $993 million terminal to the north of the airport began in early-2016 and is expected to be completed in February 2019.
The Customer Service Centre (tel: +1 504 303 7792) is located on the second level of concourse C. It is open from 0500 to 2100 daily.
The airport is located just off Interstate 10 (form the east and west) and Interstate 59 (from the north).
From central New Orleans, take Interstate 10 west and then the exit for the Airport Access Road, which leads directly to the terminal. The total drive time to the airport from New Orleans is approximately 20 minutes.
Public Transport
Rail:Passengers wishing to reach the Amtrak Union Station at 1001 Loyola Avenue should use bus or taxi services, as Amtrak does not provide a shuttle.
Bus:Jefferson Transit (JET) (tel: +1 504 818 1077; www.jeffersontransit.org) runs the E2 Airport Express bus to central New Orleans (journey time: around 30 minutes; fare: US$2). JET also provides public buses to areas in the local district.
Shuttle:The Airport Shuttle service (tel: +1 504 522 3500; www.airportshuttleneworleans.com) is available from the airport to the hotels in the central business district: the ticket office is on the lower level in the baggage reclaim area. The fare to central New Orleans is around US$24 per person, depending on the exact destination.
Taxi:Taxis are readily available on the first level outside baggage reclaim. Fares to the centre of the city start at approximately US$36, and the ride takes 20-30 minutes.
Terminal facilities
A bank and bureau de change facilities are located in the main ticket hall. ATMs can be found throughout the airport.
Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the majority of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, a map of connection points is available on the airport’s official website. A drop-off only post office is also located within the airport, and charging points for laptops and phones are also available.
There are many restaurants, bars, ice-cream parlours and cafés situated around the main part of the terminal, with additional choices available within the separate airport concourses.
There are several shops throughout the terminal, including duty-free outlets for international passengers.
The lost property office (tel: +1 504 303 7790) on the upper level of concourse C is open 0800 to 1700 from Monday to Friday.
Airport facilities
The Travelex America Business Centre, which is located in the main ticketing hall, can provide travel insurance, bureau de change, photocopying, fax and money transfer services. Delta Air Lines runs the Delta Crown Room, located between gates 2 and 4 on concourse D for its business-class passengers.
The nearby Hilton New Orleans Airport (tel: +1 504 469 5000; www3.hilton.com) has a 24-hour business centre with equipped meeting space, including a high-tech amphitheatre and a dedicated business concierge.
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is fully accessible for disabled travellers. There are several TDD telephones located around the airport, along with ramps, lifts and specialised toilets for wheelchair users. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline in advance of travel.
The airport has two large on-site car parks for long- and short-term parking, with a total of 6,300 spaces. The short-term car park is directly in front of the terminal, while the long-term area is adjacent to this car park. There is also a credit card parking lot.

International car hire companies: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless and Thrifty are all represented at the airport. The car hire area is a short distance from the terminal.
