Indianapolis International Airport Guide (IND)
Indianapolis International Airport is located 11km (7 miles) southwest of Indianapolis and 9km (5.5 miles) south of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Serving the city of Indianapolis in central Indiana, Indianapolis International Airport is the largest air facility in the state. Our Indianapolis International Airport guide includes information regarding terminal facilities, public transport access and nearby accommodation options.
There are long-term plans to add a fourth runway to the airport site, and Light Rail Transit access to the Weir Cook terminal complex.
The Guest Services Desk (tel: +1 317 487 7243; TDD: +1 317 487 5151) provides information and assistance and is located next to the ticketing hall.
From central Indianapolis, take the westbound Interstate 70 and exit at the Airport Expressway (exit 68). From northern, eastern and southern suburbs, take the Interstate 465 loop and turn onto Interstate 70 before again exiting onto the Airport Expressway. The journey time from central Indianapolis is approximately 15 minutes.
Public Transport
Bus:IndyGo (tel: +1 317 635 3344; www.indygo.net) buses connect Indianapolis International Airport to central Indianapolis. Bus 8 provides a scheduled service along Washington Street (fare: US$1.75).
Shuttle:Go Express Travel (tel: +1 800 589 6004; www.goexpresstravel.com) operates the Green Shuttle between the airport and the city centre (journey time: 25 minutes; fare: US$10).
There is also a shuttle bus service to Bloomington and Indiana University operated by Star of America (tel: +1 800 228 0814; www.soashuttle.com) as well as a link to Lafayette and Purdue University operated by Lafayette Limo (tel: +1 765 497 3828; www.lafayettelimo.com).
Taxi:Taxis leave from the lower level of the terminal building, outside baggage reclaim. Passengers can request a taxi by pushing the taxi call button located in the taxi area. There is a minimum fare of US$15 for journeys from the airport. A trip to the city centre costs around US$25 and takes 15 to 20 minutes.
Shared-ride limousine services and luxury limousine services both leave from the Ground Transportation Centre on the first floor of the main car park
Terminal facilities
There are ATMs in the baggage claim area, in the central Civic Plaza area, and along concourses A and B. Bureaux de change facilities can be found in the baggage claim area.
Telephones and Wi-Fi internet access are available throughout Indianapolis International Airport. A post box is located in the ticketing area – stamps can be purchased from the Guest Services Desk.
There is a variety of full-service and fast-food restaurants, bars and coffee shops in the public Civic Plaza at Indianapolis International Airport. Options range from American and Mexican to French and Asian cuisines. Additionally, a good selection of restaurants, snack bars, fast-food outlets, coffee shops and bars can be found in the concourses post-security.
There is a wide selection of shops at Indianapolis International Airport, the majority of which are located in the central Civic Plaza area. Retailers include a bookshop, sunglasses shop, leather goods shop and sweet shop. Newsagents and gift shops are located on each concourse.
A luggage delivery service is available on the lower level. A lost property service (tel: (317) 487 7243) is operated by the Guest Services Desk.
Other facilities at Indianapolis International Airport include games rooms, hairdressers, shoeshine booths and a petrol station with a car wash. Four digital touchscreen information kiosks are also located in baggage claim, providing passengers with details on Indianapolis hotels, restaurants, attractions, museums and businesses.
Airport facilities
There is a boardroom for hire at Indianapolis International Airport – contact the Guest Services Desk for details. A US Airways club room is located on concourse D.
Conference rooms and business facilities are available at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Airport (tel: (317) 244 6861;www.ihg.com), located within the airport grounds. The hotel offers a full business centre with PC, printing, fax and photocopying facilities, as well as 15 meeting rooms accommodating up to 600 delegates. The Radisson Hotel Indianapolis Airport (tel: (317) 244 3361;www.radisson.com) has 11 meeting rooms, a grand ballroom, an executive boardroom seating 14 delegates, and four additional rooms for small gatherings.
Ramps and lifts are fitted throughout the terminal and concourses of Indianapolis International Airport. The terminal is also equipped with TDD telephones, disabled toilets and lowered telephones. Assistance with wheelchairs can be sought from the Guest Services Desk, from individual airlines themselves, or from Skycap porters. Disabled parking is also available. Passengers requiring special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.
A short-term, five-level car park is situated immediately next to the terminal and is connected to the upper level by covered walkways. A further short-term car park can be reached by walking down Lower Terminal Drive from the lower level of the terminal building.
The primary long-term parking lot is located within walking distance of the terminal, while the economy car park, off High School Road, offers long-term parking with regular shuttle connections to the terminal. Premium long-term parking is located only a few feet from the terminal and valet parking services are available.
Eight car hire companies have desks in the Ground Transportation Centre. These include: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty. There is also a car hire phone bank in Arrivals for off-site companies.
Hotels
There are two on-site hotels at Indianapolis International Airport: the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Airport and the Radisson Hotel Indianapolis Airport. A free shuttle bus transfers guests from the terminal building to these hotels. A number of other accommodation options are located nearby, while a wider selection is available in Indianapolis itself.

Located on-site at Indianapolis International Airport, the Radisson is connected to the terminal building by a complimentary short shuttle service. Hotel facilities include a range of function rooms, ballroom, fitness centre and restaurant.
Located within the grounds of Indianapolis International Airport, just 3km (2 miles) from the terminal building, the Crowne Plaza offers extensive meeting and conference facilities, on-site dining and a fitness centre. A complimentary airport shuttle bus service is available for use by guests.
The Wyndham Indianapolis West is located just 5km (3 miles) from Indianapolis International Airport and is linked via a shuttle bus service. The hotel provides a range of services in its business centre, as well as dining and fitness facilities.
Five minutes by road from the airport, the Hampton Inn and Suites offers free Wi-Fi access, use of its gym and indoor pool, plus meeting space for up to 50 delegates. A courtesy bus is available for guests.
