Passports

Passports must be valid for at least 60 days beyond the expiry date of the traveller's visa or the end of the traveller's visa exemption period. Therefore, please consider that when you stay for 90 days on a visa in Turkey you will need a passport with a remaining validity of at least 150 days (= 90 days +60 days), which is 5 months, when you travel to Turkey. 

Nationals of the following countries can travel to Turkey as tourists or as business travellers with a valid identity card or a valid passport: Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Visas
Visas are required by all nationals referred to in the chart above except:
 
Nationals of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus who can enter Turkey without a visa for 90 days within a 180-day period.

Turkey has introduced an e-Visa scheme allowing nationals of over 40 countries to apply for their visa in advance. Nationals in the chart who do require a visa (Australia and [1] Greek Cypriot Administration) can apply for an e-Visa in advance online at www.evisa.gov.tr/en

Visa note

If you wish to climb Mount Ararat, you will need to apply for a permit for your expedition, in addition to any other types of visa which may be necessary.

Nationals not referred to in the chart are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements for Turkey.

Types and cost

e-Visa: US$40 (Greek Cypriot Administration); US$60 (Australians).

 

Validity

e-Visa: 90 days within a 180-day period.

For longer stays or frequent visits, you can obtain single- or multiple-entry visas valid for six months, one year or five years from your nearest Turkish embassy.

Transit

Travelers otherwise requiring a visa who continue to fly to the next connection within 24 hours, who do not leave the transit area and have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months and confirmed onward travel documents do not require a transit visa. Exceptions: Citizens of the following countries require a transit visa if they travel to Mexico, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela via Istanbul International Airport:

- Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Chad, Guinea, India, Yemen, Cameroon, Mauritania, Nepal and Somalia.

Application to

Apply online at www.evisa.gov.tr, at least 48 hours before departure. For long-term visas, apply to the nearest consulate/embassy. For all visas issued by the Turkish Consulate in the UK, you need to apply online at www.visa.gov.tr.
