Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport Guide (BKK)
Bangkok, Thailand's capital, has two airports – Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK). The former, BKK, is the main gateway, while the latter, DMK, handles mostly low-cost flights from domestic and international destinations.
This guide to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport provides a concise overview of its two terminals (main and satellite) and their facilities, along with public transport options.
Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport has two terminals – a main terminal and a satellite terminal (also known as The Midfield Satellite 1 or SAT-1). The main terminal is a sprawling complex covering some 6 million sq ft, housing both the domestic and international sections. The international section has four concourses (A, B, C, and D), while the domestic section has three concourses (E, F and G). The satellite SAT-1 terminal is designed to enhance the airport's capacity.
• Passengers transferring within the main terminal will either walk or use the travelators to go from one side to another.
• Passengers going to/from the satellite SAT-1 terminal will use the underground automated people mover system.
Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport is easily accessible from the Bangkok−Ban Chang Motorway or Route 7, a major route connecting Bangkok and Pattaya, a resort town about 100km (62 miles) southeast of Bangkok.
Visitors travelling from Bangkok typically use the Sirat Expressway to get out of Bangkok before joining Route 7. The drive time from Bangkok city centre to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport can be 60 minutes due to congestion.
