Medical facilities are good on the major islands. Private medical insurance is recommended.
The tap water is normally chlorinated and, while relatively safe, may cause mild abdominal upsets if you have a sensitive stomach. Bottled water is available everywhere. Drinking water outside of the main cities and towns may be contaminated and sterilisation is advisable. Milk is pasteurised and dairy products are safe for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are generally considered safe to eat.
