To enter Sri Lanka, passports should have one blank page and be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival.
All foreign nationals require a visa to visit Sri Lanka, including those from the countries listed in the chart above. However, the Sri Lankan government occasionally introduces short-term visa-free travel for specific nationalities as part of efforts to boost tourism. Travellers are advised to check Sri Lanka's Department of Immigration and Emigration for the most up-to-date visa requirements and exemptions.

SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) nationals pay a reduced visa fee (US$20 when applying online, US$25 on arrival).

Visitors can apply to extend their Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) through the Department of Immigration and Emigration's online portal or by visiting their head office in Battaramulla. Approval is at the discretion of the authorities, who require applicants to have sufficient funds and a valid return or onward ticket. It's important to note that your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay.
