Airport news

Major expansion works will increase the airport's capacity to 43 million annual passengers by 2025. Among the many ongoing projects is the Haramain Railway Station at the airport. The Makkah-Medina high speed rail will link Medina with Mecca, the King Abdulaziz International Airport and Jeddah starting March 2018.


There is an information desk in the arrivals area that's staffed by multilingual assistants.

Driving directions

From central Jeddah, head north along Al Madinah Al Munawarah Road – this route takes you directly to the airport (journey time: 20 minutes).

Taxi:Fixed price taxis and limousines are available outside the arrivals area. The journey time to central Jeddah is around 30 minutes.

Public telephones and paid-for Wi-Fi internet access are available throughout the terminals. There is a 24-hour post office in the international arrivals area.

Souvenirs, gifts, books and general items are available in the departure areas. All goods are tax-free in Saudi Arabia. Alcohol is not available for purchase.

Avis, Budget and Hertz are among the international car hire companies represented at the airport, with desks in the centre of the international arrivals hall. There are also a number of local operators.


There is one hotel located near the airport site, a short distance from the terminals. Alternative accommodation can be found in Jeddah itself – assistance with accommodation booking is available at the airport.
