Weather in San Diego

Best time to visit

Thanks to its coastal setting, San Diego maintains a moderate climate year round - it rarely experiences extreme highs and lows and very little rainfall either. February, March or the autumn months are probably the best times to visit - it's warm during the day, the beaches and attractions are less busier and the sunniest time of the year is actually between November and February. If you visit in late spring, or early summer, beware of the May Gray or June Gloom phenomenon when fog shrouds the coastline until noon, before reappearing again at sunset. Hot, dry winds, known as the Santa Ana winds, also hit between September and December, and can last for several days.
