Nuremberg Airport Guide (NUE)
The airport is located around 5km (3 miles) north of Nuremberg city centre.
Nuremberg Airport is Bavaria’s second busiest after Munich. Our guide to the airport provides information on terminal facilities, local transport and nearby accommodation, plus important contact details.
From Nuremberg city centre, follow Bucher Straße north, crossing the Nordring on to Erlanger Straße (national route 4). At Marienbergstraße turn right following the airport signposts. Flughafenstraße is about 1km (0.6 mile) along on the left.
Public Transport
Nuremberg’s U2 metro line (tel: (911) 270 750; www.vgn.de) runs directly from the airport to the city’s central station, the trip taking 12 minutes and costing €2.50 one way.
Bus: Bus lines 32 and 33 (tel: (911) 270 750; www.vgn.de) operate regularly between the airport and the city. The price is €2.50, and trips take 15-20 minutes from outside the departures area. Additionally, a night bus (N12) operates throughout Friday and Saturday nights and prior to public holidays.
Terminal facilities
Wi-Fi is free of charge throughout the terminal complex. Public telephones can be found at various locations.
There are two bars in the public area of the terminal, and another in Departures. A choice of restaurants (including one in the airport hotel) and a fast food outlet are available, along with a bakery.
Several shops offer duty-free items for passengers leaving the EU, books, jewellery, giftware and general goods. There is a tax refund service for non-EU residents.
Lost property enquiries should be directed to the main information desk (tel: (911) 93700). Luggage lockers are available in car parks 1 and 2 opposite the terminal building.
Airport facilities
The airport offers eight meeting rooms with space for up to 200 people (Mövenpick Conference Centre, tel: (911) 952 860), and more are available in the on-site Mövenpick Hotel (tel: (911) 35010; www.moevenpick-hotels.com). VIP lounges are also available, as are special facilities for business meeters and greeters.
The airport is fully accessible for passengers with reduced mobility or visual impairment. Special assistance can be pre-arranged, and discounted parking is available in the multi-storey car park for disabled people. As always, passengers requiring assistance should inform their airline before travelling.
Long and short-stay parking is available at NUE, with all car parks close to the terminals and served where necessary by free shuttle service. Valet parking service is also available. Parking can be pre-booked online via the airport website, and short-term stops of up to 20 minutes can be made free of charge.
Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt are among car hire companies represented at the airport.
Located adjacent to the terminal, the 150-room Mövenpick is a 4-star hotel with gymnasium, full-service restaurant and meetings facilities. It is also close to public transport links.
This 4-star property is approximately 4km (2.5 miles) from the airport and is convenient located for the historic city centre. It has 74 rooms and suites, a restaurant specialising in Bavarian cuisine, and a meeting room with capacity for up to 35 people.
Just three stops by Metro from the airport, the new 3-star Acorn Hotel is also convenient for the historic city centre. It has more than 200 rooms, a 24-hour bistro/bar, one small meeting room, and a breakfast restaurant with outdoor terrace.
Housed in an early 18th century building, the Hotel Drei Linden is a 3-star property that recently benefitted from a refurbishment. The hotel offers a buffet breakfast and an onsite bar, but, being in the city centre, there are many others bars and restaurants close by.
Located close to the city’s castle, the Azimut has 118 rooms, a summer terrace overlooking the historic quarter, and claims that its accommodation is ‘unusually spacious’. Some rooms have balconies, and others have cooking facilities.
Situated in a quiet area on the north-eastern fringe of the city centre, the Cristal is a moderately-priced 3-star hotel, with a breakfast room and sauna. It is near the airport’s Metro link.
