Kuala Lumpur Hotels
In the swanky business district of KLCC, soaring skyscrapers are home to many of the top-end stays, but prices are markedly more affordable than their counterparts in Europe. Various budget beds and mid-range stays are found dotted around Chinatown and Jalan Bukit Bintang.
The Kuala Lumpur hotels below have been grouped into three pricing categories:
Luxury (over RM600)
Moderate (RM350 to RM600)
Cheap (up to RM350)
These prices are the starting rate for a standard double room per night and include sales tax but not service charge. Breakfast is not included, unless otherwise specified. A government tax of 6% and a service charge at 10% are added to the bill in most hotels in Kuala Lumpur. Additional tips are not necessary, although it is perfectly acceptable to tip the porter at more expensive hotels.
Set behind bamboo-clad gates in the leafy embassy district, this intimate hideaway is one of the city’s finest boutique offerings. The 21 rooms and suites are wonderfully spacious and decorated in exotic artefacts collected from across Asia. Guests can enjoy private hot tubs and romantic balconies that overlook a tear-shaped pool surrounded by cabanas and tropical foliage. The restaurant serves all-day dishes and an indulgent breakfast come daybreak.
The benchmark for luxury in Kuala Lumpur, the Mandarin Oriental enjoys a spectacular location right in the heart of the business district, overlooking the green expanse of KLCC Park. Its fabulous 643 deluxe rooms, including 41 suites and 51 exclusive apartments, have king-size beds and marble bathrooms and are decked out with Asian furniture and artworks. Extensive facilities include multiple restaurants, an outdoor infinity pool, tennis and squash courts and a relaxing spa.
This lovely heritage hotel retains the refined air of its pre-war days, but recent restorations have added a modern 15-storey Tower Wing. The contrast between old and new plays out in the bedrooms, with those in the colonial quarter boasting wood panelling and claw tubs, while the new wing entices with four-poster beds and sleek glass fittings. The hotel’s parlours, smoking lounge and orchid-filled conservatory add further allure.
