Flying to Indonesia

The national airline is Garuda Indonesia (www.garuda-indonesia.com). Airlines offering flights to Indonesia include Emirates (www.emirates.com), Etihad Airways (www.etihad.com), Malaysia Airlines (www.malaysiaairlines.com), Qatar Airways (www.qatarairways.com), Singapore Airlines (www.singaporeair.com) and Thai Airways (www.thaiairways.com). There are no international trains going to Indonesia.

Driving to Indonesia

As Indonesia is made up of islands, land crossings are limited.
• From Malaysia: the Entikong- Tebedu crossing is between Sarawak (Malaysia) and West Kalimantan (Indonesia) on the island of Borneo.
• From East Timor: the Mota'ain crossing is between Batugade in East Timor and Atambua, West Timor.
• From Papua New Guinea: the Wutung crossing is between Vanimo in Sandaun Province in Papua New Guinea, and Jayapura Indonesian Papua.

Getting to Indonesia by boat

The main ports within Indonesia are Belawan (Medan), Dumai and Padang on Sumatra, with both Belawan and Dumai served by ferries from Malaysia. It is also possible to travel by boat from Singapore to Batam and Bintan, two islands just south of Singapore.

Indonesia is served by various cruise lines including Seabourn (www.seabourn.com) and Holland America Line (www.hollandamerica.com).

Ferry operators:

Ferries are available from Singapore to Bintan and Batam islands which are close to Singapore.

Ferries are also available from Port Klang and Port Dickson in Malaysia to Dumai and Tanjung Balai in Sumatra, Indonesia. There is also a ferry service from Tawau (Sabah, Malaysia) to Nunukan and Tarakan, two Indonesian islands nearby.
