Transfer between terminals

Both the domestic and international areas are housed in one large terminal. The two areas are connected by escalators and within the international area there are several connection points due to its large size.

Driving directions

From the centre of Kolkata, take Acharya Prafulla Road, then turn right onto Bidhan Nagar Road. This road joins Route 1 (VIP Road), which leads directly past the terminal entrance. The total drive time to the airport from central Kolkata is approximately 40 minutes.

Public transport rail

Rail: At the moment, there is a metro expansion plan in progress for the airport’s railway, which will include two new metro lines to the airport via Metro Line 6. The expansion is still under construction with plans to be completed by early 2019. Check the airport website for updates on the current travel situation.

Overground: The overground track connects the airport's Biman Bandar station to the centre via Dum Dum Junction and Majerhat Station, running from 0630 until 1830 (with one final train to Sealdah junction, also located in the centre of the city, at 2227). The journey time into the central stations is roughly 15-30 minutes. As with any transportation in India, trains are subject to delay and passengers should arrive at the platform well before the scheduled departure time. Metro: Currently, the Metro Railway runs between Dum Dum station and the city centre, every 10-15 minutes from early morning until around 2200. Check the airport website to find accurate up to date information about the metro system.

Public transport road

Bus: West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC) operates an air-conditioned bus service from the airport and various locations in Kolkata. The bus service starts at 0800 and the last bus departs from the Airport at 2130. The WBSTC counter is located in Arrivals (tel: +91 33 2511 8238).

Taxi: Pre-paid Taxis (Yellow Taxi) are available at NSCBI Airport around the clock, and are managed by Bidhannagar Police. Pre-paid Taxi counters are available in the Arrival Level between Gates 3 and 4 (tel: +91 33 2511 1201). RadioTaxis, or mega cabs, are available for transport to and from the airport.
