Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, still known as Roissy Airport to some, is the largest airport in France and is a major international air hub, frequented by visitors to Paris. There are several information desks throughout Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. Free guides and maps of Paris and the airport are available on request. There are also tourist information offices in the terminals.
Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are linked by the CDGVAL airport Métro line. Shuttles operate between the various parts of Terminal 2 and the long stay car park, as well as to the more distant Terminal 2G.
From central Paris, follow signs to the northbound N1 road, and follow it to the connecting Autoroute du N (A1). The A1 merges onto the E15, which has a dedicated junction for the airport. Follow signs to the terminals. The total drive time to the airport from central Paris is approximately 45 minutes.
Public Transport
Rail: RER trains (www.ratp.fr) serve the airport in conjunction with ADP shuttles. Line B runs from Terminal 1 and from the TGV station at Terminal 2 to Gare du Nord, Châtelet-les-Halles, St Michel, Luxembourg, Port Royal and Denfert-Rochereau, with connections to the Métro. The journey time to Gare du Nord is about 40 minutes, and the fare is €9.75.
Bus: Local buses 350 and 351 connect central Paris to the airport (journey time: 70 minutes; fare: €6). Roissybus (www.ratp.fr) serves all three terminals and runs to Place de l'Opéra for the Paris Métro (journey time: 45-60 minutes; fare: €11). The Noctilien night service has three routes linking the airport with various destinations in Paris (and vice versa) between 0100 and 0400 (journey time: 30 minutes; fare: €8).
Shuttle: The Val d'Europe Airports shuttle (VEA) operates services between Paris hotels, Disneyland and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (fare: €23).
Coach: Air France coaches (tel: +33 1 64 02 50 14; www.lebusdirect.com) depart from terminals 1 and 2 to a range of central city destinations including, Montparnasse and Gare de Lyon. They also provide connections to Paris-Orly Airport, from terminals 1 and 2.
Taxi: A taxi to the city centre will take around 45 minutes. Taxi companies include Alpha Taxis (tel: +01 49 69 63 55), Les Taxis Bleus (tel: +33 1 4152 5425), Taxis G7 (tel: +331 41 27 66 99). The average fare to central Paris is around €50-60, depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.
Terminal facilities
There are bureaux de change and at least one ATM in each of the three terminals. A bank branch is located in the train station between terminals 2D and 2F.
Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Charles de Gaulle Airport (along with a paid-for premium service offering faster connection speeds). Post offices can be found in terminals 1 and 2, and mobile phone rental is available.
There is a wide choice of bars, cafés and restaurants at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, serving French and international cuisine in all terminals.
There is a good selection of shops of all types in all three terminals, including duty-free shopping and VAT refunds for passengers leaving the EU.
Lost property offices (tel: +33 1 7036 3950) are found throughout the terminal. It's also possible to report missing items via a form on the airport's website. Luggage storage services (tel: +33 1 48 16 02 15) are also available at the airport starting from €3.
Airport facilities
There are work areas in terminals 1 and 2 where travellers can also recharge their electronic equipment. Conference and meeting facilities are available at the larger hotels close to and in the terminals – the nearest is the Sheraton Paris Airport Hotel & Conference Centre (tel: +33 1 4919 7070; www.marriot.com), within Terminal 2.
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport has excellent facilities for disabled travellers, who should inform their airline in advance of their needs. Information desks also offer a special welcome service for disabled passengers. Lifts and ramps connect all floors and reserved car parking spaces are provided in designated areas; discount on parking rates is available on presentation of a valid disability badge.
Each terminal has its own short-term covered car park with direct access to the terminal by lift. The long-term car park PR is for Terminal 1, and car park PX is for Terminals 2 and 3; all are linked by a free airport shuttle bus.
Car hire companies at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport include: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Firefly, Hertz, and Sixt, all of which have offices in terminals 1 and 2.
Located within Terminal 2, the Sheraton boasts 250 rooms and suites. As well as meeting facilities, the hotel offers a gymnasium, with a sauna, and a choice of restaurants and bars.
Convenient for both Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and the local convention centre, the Pullman has extensive meeting facilities, plus a business centre. There is an on-site restaurant, bar, indoor swimming pool and tennis courts. A free shuttle bus connects the hotel to the airport.
Located on site at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, five minutes from the terminals, the Hilton provides a shuttle bus service to the TGV station at Terminal 2F. Facilities include meeting and conference facilities, a choice of restaurants and bars, a fitness room and a swimming pool.
The 200-room Novotel is located close to Terminal 3 and the TGV rail station at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. In addition to its restaurant, bar and café, the hotel offers a number of meeting rooms and services including Wi-Fi access and a video games room.
Situated opposite Terminal 3 at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, the Ibis has 772 rooms, a choice of four restaurants, a bar, and 13 conference rooms. Shuttles link the hotel with Terminals 1 and 2, and the TGV station.
This 90-room budget option is located within a short distance of the airport terminals. Breakfast is offered as an addition to the basic room rate, which includes Wi-Fi and satellite TV. Evening dining is available nearby.
