Hurghada International Airport Guide (HRG)
Hurghada International Airport is located inland, 6km (4 miles) southwest of Hurghada.
Hurghada International Airport serves the seaside resort of Hurghada along Egypt’s Red Sea coast. Our Hurghada International Airport guide includes information on how to get there, where to stay nearby and facilities within the airport grounds.
An information kiosk is available to passengers, located in the main hall near the terminal entrance.
From central Hurghada, take El-Nasr road southwards – this directly passes the terminal entrance – and follow signs to the required terminal. The total drive time is approximately 20 minutes.
Public Transport
Bus: Minibuses operate to central Hurghada: these wait outside the airport and only leave once full (journey time: 20 minutes).
Taxi: Regular taxis and tourist taxis (which charge double the fare) operate from outside the arrivals area. It is advisable to agree a fare with the driver before entering the vehicle. The journey time to central Hurghada is approximately 20 minutes.
Terminal facilities
The on-site post office provides mail and internet services, while public telephones are available throughout the airport.
Several cafés and bars, plus one full-service restaurant, offer a choice of drinks, small dishes and meals at the airport. Numerous vending machines also offer small snacks and drinks.
More than 40 shops and bazaars offer duty-free goods, gifts and souvenirs at Hurghada International Airport.
There is a left-luggage facility and a lost property office (tel: +20 65 344 5543) within the terminal. Baggage wrapping services are also available.
Airport facilities
There are currently no business facilities or airport lounges at Hurghada International Airport. However, the majority of the big hotels dotted along Hurghada’s coastline offer extensive business and conference facilities, including the nearby Hurghada Marriott Beach Resort (tel: +20 65 340 4420; www.marriott.com).
Facilities for disabled travellers are basic at Hurghada International Airport, but wheelchairs are available from the airline counters on request and ramps/lifts are fitted where required. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.
The airport’s car park is located just outside the terminal. Short-term spaces are closest, and long-term parking is a little further away.
Car hire is available at the airport from Hertz and Sixt, which have desks in Arrivals. Local operators are also represented.
The luxurious Hurghada Marriott Beach Resort benefits from a unique setting in the centre of Hurghada town, though is still just a short stroll from the beach. On-site facilities here include a swimming pool, fitness centre and meeting facilities.
Boasting an on-site health club and diving centre, Al Mashrabiya Hotel is located next to a sandy beach near Hurghada International Airport. Guests can eat on-site in the hotel’s restaurant or beach bar, and can relax in the swimming pool.
