City Airport Bremen Guide (BRE)
City Airport Bremen is located 3.5km (2 miles) south of the city.
City Airport Bremen serves northern Germany's third most populous city, Bremen. Our Bremen Airport guide includes important contact details, as well as information regarding terminal facilities, public transportation and local accommodation.
Information points are available at several locations in the terminal complex. Additionally, there is an information and parking ticket booth between Terminals 1 and 2.
Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are housed in the same building. Some low-cost carriers operate from Terminal E, a rather more basic facility adjacent to the main building, linked via a walkway.
From the city centre, follow Route 6 (Friedrich-Ebert-Straße), turning on to Route 281 in Bremen Neustadt. The airport is clearly signposted.
Public Transport
Tram 6 (see Public Transport Road) operates direct to the main city railway station, where trains depart to destinations all over Germany and beyond.
Tram:Bremer Straßenbahn Line 6 (tel: +49 421 55960; www.bsag.de) operates regularly (every 10 minutes during the day) from Bremen’s main railway station and university, and runs directly to the airport. The single fare is €2.50, and the journey time into the city centre is approximately 10-15 minutes.
Bus:Bus 52 (tel: +49 421 55960; www.bsag.de) connects the airport and city centre, and departs from the airport every 10 minutes (fare: €2.50). Long distance buses operate to Hamburg and the northern Netherlands.
Taxi:The airport taxi rank is outside the main terminal complex. Official taxis are cream-coloured, and the journey time into the city is up to 20 minutes depending on traffic. The fare into the centre is upwards of €12.

A number of cafés and fast-food outlets are available both air and land-side. There are also Italian and Asian restaurants and a café/snack bar in Terminal E.
The main airport shop offers a range of goods – newspapers, magazines, travel accessories – and there are duty-free shops in Terminals 1, 3 and E (for passengers leaving the EU). Additionally, there is a bookstore in Terminal 1.
Luggage trolleys and storage lockers are available. There is also a lost and found office (tel: +49 421 559 5848).
Airport facilities
The Bremen Hall is a combined museum and rentable function suite located on the top floor of Terminal 3 adjacent to the visitors’ terrace. Car rental companies Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt all have representation at the airport. Car rental desks are located in Terminal 3 opposite the check-in desks.
About 10 minutes from City Airport Bremen, the Hotel Robben is one of the most popular hotels in the vicinity. A boutique-style hotel, guests can choose from traditional or modern rooms and dine in the on-site restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Just outside the city centre, approximately 10 minutes from the airport, this is a good option for business and leisure travellers with its indoor pool, restaurants, bars and business centre. It’s on the number 6 tramline, too, which runs directly to the airport.
The airport’s only on-site hotel, the Atlantic is located within a few steps of the terminals. It offers a selection of decent-sized rooms, a range of conference and meeting facilities, and a restaurant and bar.
Very close to BRE, this Holiday Inn Express offers the usual HIE facilities. It has meeting rooms, a business centre and a bar offering basic dining options. The surrounding area has plenty of restaurants, and the historic city centre is minutes away.
Also relatively close to the airport, the Tryp offers 183 rooms, along with a bistro restaurant and meeting facilities. The front desk is open 24 hours, and the hotel is convenient for visiting attractions in the city centre.
For those travelling on a limited budget, B & L offers modern accommodation at a reasonable price, with a choice of room styles. Facilities are basic but clean, and there is a good choice of dining options in the locality, as well as kitchen facilities on the premises.
