Passports

To enter the Bahamas, you must have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of departure from The Bahamas.

Note 1: Nationals from Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK and the USA can stay in the Bahamas without a visa for a maximum of eight months. You will initially be granted a stay of three to four weeks and need to extend this by applying to the Department of Immigration in Nassau. Penalties for overstaying include fines and detention pending deportation.

Note 2: Indian Nationals who have visas for, or have permanent resident status in Canada, the UK, the US and Schengen countries do not require a visa to enter The Bahamas. Indian nationals with diplomatic or official passports also do not require a visa to enter The Bahamas. All other Indian nationals require visas.

Single-entry tourist visa: Bahamian dollar $100.

Multiple-entry tourist visa: Bahamian dollar $110.

Single-entry visa: three months; multiple-entry visa: three months, six months or one year.

Working days

The standard processing time for an eVISA is 7-10 business days, not including the submission date and providing that all supporting documents are in order at the time of your initial submission and no interview is required.

Sufficient funds

Visitors are expected to have sufficient funds to cover their stay.

Extension of stay

Apply to the Immigration Department to extend your stay.

Entry with children

Unaccompanied children under 16 must carry a letter of authorisation from their parents.

Entry with pets

An import permit is required from the Department of Agriculture; contact the embassy or high commission for details.
