Where to stay in Victoria

Hotels

A variety of hotel accommodation is available in Victoria, ranging from 4- and 5-star international-standard hotels in the cities, to basic motels throughout the region. Standards vary, but ensuite, TV, drink-making facilities and, sometimes, a small fridge is the norm. Melbourne in particular has some very stylish, cutting-edge hotels. Book ahead over summer and holiday periods.

Bed and breakfast

These range from quiet lodges and cottages to historic houses, farms and classic guest houses. Farmstays offer the opportunity to stay in a family homestead whilst participating in farm activities. Further information can be obtained from Tourism Victoria (see Contact Addresses).

Camping

Camping and caravanning opportunities can be found all over the state. Most towns have at least one caravan or holiday park. National parks offer limited facilities but some of the best bush camping in Victoria. A number of companies can arrange camper van hire, with a range of fully equipped vehicles.

Other accommodation

Self-contained units, apartments or houses are found in many towns and rural areas, especially those popular with tourists. They usually come with a full kitchen.
