Flying to Queensland

QantasLink also provides services from Brisbane to assorted towns throughout Queensland.

Travel by rail
Queensland has its own railway system, run by QR (tel: +61 7 3072 2222; www.qr.com.au). The main routes are the Sunshine Coast Line and the Tilt Train that connect coastal towns from Brisbane to Rockhampton. In addition, other services, such as the Inlander (Townsville to Mount Isa), Westlander (Brisbane to Charlesville), and Spirit of the Outback (from Brisbane to Longreach), open up the outback to travellers. The main tourist services are the famous Kuranda Scenic Rail (Kuranda to Cairns) and the Gulflander (Normanton to Croydon). The main railway stations are Central and Roma Street in Brisbane.
Rail passes:
Queensland Coastal Pass: one-way travel up or down Queensland's main rail lines. On route, it allows for multiple breaks, but you cannot backtrack. The pass is specially tailored to international visitors exploring the coast of Queensland. You will need to prove that you are not an Australian resident to purchase it.
