Kyrgyz people are known for their hospitality, and guests are often treated with great warmth and generosity. Greetings are polite and friendly, usually involving a handshake, and it is customary to remove shoes when entering a private home.

Modest dress is advisable, particularly in rural areas and when visiting religious sites. While casual clothing is acceptable in cities, revealing attire may attract unwanted attention outside urban centres.

Photography is generally permitted, but visitors should avoid taking photos of military sites, government buildings or border areas. Asking permission before photographing people, especially in rural communities, is considered polite.
