Lailat al Miraj

Date (To be confirmed): April 2018

This Muslim holiday commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s night time journey from Mecca to the “Farthest Mosque” in Jerusalem, where he ascended to heaven, was purified, and given the instruction for Muslims to pray five times a day. In modern times, Iranians usually celebrate by attending services at a mosque, telling children the story of Lailat al Miraj, and reciting special nighttime prayers.
