The Ritz-Carlton in Hong Kong, with its incredible 490m (1,607ft) height, became the world's tallest hotel when it opened last month. Its Ozone bar on the highest floor (118th) - making it the highest bar in the world - is the perfect spot to take in the stunning views of Hong Kong Island and Victoria Harbour while sipping a cocktail or two. The sumptuous spa on the 116th floor is also a good place to admire the city skyline with its floor-to-ceiling windows.

The sail-shaped Burj Al Arab in Dubai was the world's tallest hotel at 321m (1,053ft) in height (and also one of the most iconic) when it opened in 1999.
