As always we like to keep our finger on the travel pulse, so have trawled the world to find you latest resort news for the coming season.

Schladming, Austria

In the Alps, Schladming is spending big time ahead of hosting the 2013 Alpine Ski World Championships, and this winter unveils an incredible €26m valley station as well as a second eight-seater chairlift. Also in Austria, Saalbach is unveiling a fast new gondola and, not to be left out, Kitzbuhel is installing Austria’s first 10 passenger gondola and another eight-seater chairlift. The gondola will replace a double chairlift and a drag lift on the route.

Serre Chevalier, France

In the southern French Alps the long list of upgrades to Serre Chevalier continues with a new six-seater chairlift to improve slope access in the Villeneuve and Monêtier sectors.

Nevis Range, UK

Closer to home, Nevis Range in Scotland has an exciting new high ropes course to try – let’s hope the Highlands have another epic winter, but the new attraction is open whatever the weather and Glenshee will install a new chairlift if it receives permissions in time. If not, it will be for winter 2011-12 as the machinery is already on site.

Baqueira Beret, Spain

In the Pyrenees, Spain’s leading resort, Baqueira Beret, has announced that it will install a new six-seater chairlift for winter 2010-11.

Vail, USA

In North America Vail Mountain gets a new High Noon Lift (Chair 5) high-speed quad lift which will cut ride time in half from 12 minutes to six and improve access to Vail’s Back Bowls.

Banff, Canada

Just weeks after their long 2009-10 ski season ended in late May, Sunshine Mountain at Banff in Canada began work on installing a high-speed quad chairlift, the resort’s ninth, bought second-hand from Whistler where it was in use for the Olympic Games.
