Galapagos Islands
The Galapagos Islands is a province of Ecuador and it only allows tourists to stay for 60 days maximum. All visitors to the Galapagos Islands will be asked to provide the following upon entry:
• A return flight ticket;
• A copy of their hotel booking or an invitation letter from a host if staying with a resident;
• The Galapagos Transit Control Card, to be filled out online at least 24 hours before the flight;
• Travel insurance.
Nationals referred to in the chart above can transit in Ecuador without a transit visa. Nationals not referred to in the chart are advised to contact the nearest Ecuadorian embassy for further information.
Temporary residence visas are issued by Ecuador's diplomatic representatives abroad and administered in Quito by the Dirección General de Extranjería.
Officially you need proof of sufficient funds, although the immigration officer may or may not ask for it.
A travel health insurance, which is valid in Ecuador during the whole stay, is obligatory.
Entry into Ecuador by land from Peru or Colombia: The presentation of a police clearance certificate with an apostille and translation from the country of residence is required. Without the certificate of good conduct, entry can be refused. This provision does not apply to entries by air.
Please note: If necessary, a police clearance certificate can also be applied for through the relevant foreign missions in the region.
Violation of Ecuadorian residency law could result in fines as well as deportation and deportation. The responsible consular representations provide information about the visa requirements for long-term stays.
Please note: Minors who are leaving Ecuador alone or with only one parent/guardian and have permanent residence (from 6 months) in Ecuador require a declaration of consent certified by a court, notary or consular (Ecuadorian consulate abroad), regardless of their nationality.
Ecuador does not quarantine healthy cats or dogs that have been vaccinated for rabies at least 30 days in advance of entry into the country. You need to present a copy of the rabies certificate along with an endorsed veterinary certificate. All other pets may have to meet other requirements as to the limit on numbers that can be brought in and certificates pertaining to other diseases. Check with the relevant authority in your own country.
