Mount Isa Rodeo

Despite being located approximately 1,000km (621 miles) from the nearest metropolitan area, Mount Isa has gained notoriety for its enormous mining operation and for holding the biggest event on the Australian rodeo calendar. With a large prize purse, it attracts some top-class competitors from throughout Australia and abroad who come to compete in classic rodeo events such as bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding and steer roping. When the dust clears, evening entertainment takes over including live country music, car shows and photography exhibitions.
