Driving directions

Berlin-Tegel Airport is off exit 10 of the A111, which runs northbound from the A100 in the west of the city.
 

Public Transport

Public transport rail

Rail: There is no direct train connection between the airport and city centre. The closest access to the S41 and S42 S-Bahn (tel: +49 30 19449; www.bvg.de) lines to central Berlin at Beusselstrasse Station is via the Jet Express TXL bus from the airport.

Metro:The U7 (at Jakob-Kaiser-Platz Station) and U6 (at Kurt-Schumacher-Platz Station) U-Bahn lines (tel: +49 30 19449; www.bvg.de), which run to the city centre, are accessible via the X9/109 and 128 buses respectively.

Public transport road

Bus:The Jet Express Bus TXL (tel: +49 30 2541 4141; www.vbb.de) connects Berlin-Tegel Airport with Alexanderplatz, running via Unter den Linden and Central Station (journey time: 30-40 minutes; fare €2.80). Buses 128, 109 and X9 run to various local destinations for connections to the city's U-Bahn subway transport system and the overland S-Bahn trains. Further bus information is available from the BVG office in the main Boulevard Tegel hall.

Taxi:Taxis are readily available outside the terminals. Fares to the centre of Berlin start at roughly €20, and the journey time is around 20 to 30 minutes (depending on traffic).

Berlin-Tegel Airport has ATMs in Terminals A and C and bureaux de change and banks in Terminals A, B and C.

Communication

Free Wi-Fi internet access throughout Berlin-Tegel Airport is available around the clock via the hotspot "_Free Airport WiFi". There are post boxes in the public areas of the main Terminal A and Boulevard Tegel complex, as well as in Terminal C. Public telephones can be found throughout the concourses.

Food

There are several cafés, restaurants and bars located throughout the terminal buildings. The majority of these can be found in the Boulevard Tegel building and in Terminal A.

Shopping

There is an extensive shopping area at the airport, with shops ranging from souvenir and gift retailers to newsagents, perfume sellers and design boutiques. Duty-free shopping is available in the departures areas.

Luggage

Left-luggage and lost property (tel: +49 30 4101 2315) services are available on the ground floor of Boulevard Tegel hall and in the public area of Terminal C. Porters are on hand to assist with bags, while luggage trolleys are available free of charge.

Other

Other facilities available at Berlin Tegel Airport include a 24-hour first aid service, baby changing facilities and a hairdresser, located on the ground floor of the Boulevard Tegel main hall.

Berlin-Tegel Airport’s VIP lounges offer food and beverage service, fast WiFi, TV and international press. There are seven meeting rooms (tel: +49 30 4101 3316) available on-site. Disabled facilities

Facilities for disabled travellers include lifts and ramped access, designated toilets and wheelchair-accessible telephones. Wheelchairs are available on request (tel: +49 30 4101 4396). Disabled car parking spaces can be found in car parks P1, P2 and PK.

Car parking

There are car parks located beneath and around the main terminal complex; the covered P1 and P2 plus short-term PK are close to the terminal buildings; while P5, which is a little distance from the terminals, offers long-term rates.

Car rental

Car hire companies: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt and Global Rent-a-Car are represented at the airport. Car hire facilities are situated in front of Terminal E.

Hotels

There is one hotel situated very close to Berlin-Tegel Airport and a choice of numerous other smaller establishments within a 10 - 15 minute drive. Most major international chains are represented in the city centre.
